In this week’s spotlight, it’s my extreme pleasure to introduce the author, Elizabeth Los!
Feel free to include an author photo (appropriate!) as well as a photo of your latest book cover.
1) Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a cancer registrar by day and a writer by night, plus a wife and mother full time.
2) Where can we find you on the internet?
My blog: http://www.elizabethlos.com
3) Why did you chose the genre you write in and how would you describe your writing style?
A friend challenged me to write a story where the villain was actually the hero. For me, it just made sense to keep him in the world of fantasy.
4) Tell us about your latest book.
Second on the Right is the story of a man who has everything taken from him. Hell bent on revenge, the reader will see him change from the man he once was to a man whose name strikes fear (or delight) into the hearts of all who hear it: Captain Hook.
5) If you could live in any world from a book or movie which would it be and why?
I couldn’t pick just one. I see fun in a lot of worlds, such as Middle-earth, Doctor Who universe, Victorian period with Sherlock Holmes…I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you.
6) What was your favorite book growing up?
The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, though I’ve enjoyed all of the Sherlock Holmes stories. More recently, it’s been Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. If you enjoy a good monster movie, you probably would enjoy Relic.
7) The infamous question- what advice would you give to any aspiring and new authors out there?
Before putting your name and work out there, make absolutely sure it is of the highest quality possible. Don’t just rely on family and friends to help. Seek out professional editors. Try not to be in a rush to publish.
8) What are your preferred method to use while writing and environment?
I’ve written in all types of settings: local coffee shop, doctor’s office waiting room, lobby at the auto shop, while camping, sitting on the beach and at home. I use music to help focus on the story.
9)What are your favorite games (tabletop and/or video)? If you’re not too much into gaming (even monopoly counts!) what are your other hobbies?
I used to play City of Heroes before it was cancelled. That was a fun game. I’ve been known to play board games (Monopoly) and card games (Munchkin!). I’ve enjoyed playing Disney’s Infinity, but only when using Davy Jones or Hector Barbossa. 😉
10) What can we look forward from you in the future?
I’m working on a series of paranormal mysteries novels that I hope to release in the next few years.
Thanks again Elizabeth for taking the time to answer my questions!
