Just in time for Valentine’s Day, introducing erotica author A.V. Roe!
1) Tell us a little bit about yourself: My pen name is A.V. Roe. There
is significance to that name but it is subtle. I’m a geezer geek, a
retired computer systems plumber who was there when computers had vacuum
tubes and took up rooms. I have also been a private pilot for 40+ years.
I live with my wife in the forest on the east side of the Cascades at
the foot of dormant volcanoes, on the edge of the big empty.
2) Where can we find you on the internet? :
3) Why did you chose the genre you write in and how would you describe
your writing style? : My genre is erotica because I have vivid sexual
fantasies and I have always been intrigued by why humans have such
complex sexual conventions that I could never reconcile with my own
feelings and emotions. It has everything to do with power and control
and I learned only recently that I’m polyamorous. I wish I had read The
Ethical Slut and Sex at Dawn 50 years ago, but then, they hadn’t been
written. I would describe my writing style as third person, amateur. I’m
really not an author. In fact I spent a lot of my career writing
technical articles and hated it, so this will be my only novel. Of
course I have a degree in mathematics and I hated math in school, but
that’s another story. Computers came along at the right time; I
understand them because they only deal with two states, 0 and 1. I
can wrap my mind around that.
4) Tell us about your latest book. Our Rules Of Engagement is a
polyamorous love story in four parts. It follows the lives of normal
people who fall in love and create a large poly family. There are no
billionaire control freaks with six pack abs and no heroines that are
Vargas girls and there are no vampires. What is special about these
characters is that they are all pilots and they love flying and flying
each other. There are so many sexual metaphors in flying that I’m
surprised that Aviation Erotica isn’t a widespread genre, but I seem to
be a pioneer.
5) If you could live in any world from a book or movie which would it be
and why? Jackson Hole, Wyoming at the foot of the Tetons, from the movie
Shane, because I need huge granite to sooth my soul.
6) What was your favorite book growing up? Fate Is The Hunter by Ernest
7) The infamous question- what advice would you give to any aspiring and
new authors out there? What are you waiting for? Go for it! With all of
the computer applications to help you create ePubs, anyone can be an
Indie author. I’m the prime example. If I find 10 people who like my
story, I’ll feel successful. I know my story is a very niche sub genre,
but I figure there must be a few other people who like erotica who might
like an out of the box experience, especially a very romantic erotic
8) What are your preferred method to use while writing and environment?
Sitting at my computer in my quiet office looking out the window
watching huge pine trees grow, maybe with some long hair music,
9)What are your favorite games (tabletop and/or video)? If you’re not
too much into gaming (even monopoly counts!) what are your other
hobbies? I’m not a gamer at all. I build electronic gadgets that I sell,
and I’m building an airplane. I also delve into old radios, especially
those used in WW-II aircraft. I have a web site dedicated to one
particular type of radios.
10) What can we look forward from you in the future? Part 2 of Our Rules
Of Engagement should be out by April and I hope that Part 3 and Part 4,
which are written but not edited, will be finished in 3 – 4 month
intervals, then the entire novel will be released in a single volume and
I can retire as an author, in the style of Margaret Mitchell.
Thanks again for taking the time to let me interview you A.V. best of luck with your remaining books!
